Metadate CD for ADHD

Metadate CD is a mild stimulant used to treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children aged 6 to 15. Metadate CR is used to give children greater control over hyperactivity and impulsiveness as well as increased attention spans.

Metadate CD is available in 10 mg increments from 10 mg to 50 so that the proper dosage for each patient can be given depending upon the severity of the symptoms and the person’s size. The capsules should be taken whole without crushing or chewing them.

As with any stimulant medications, Metadate CD may cause headache, stomachache, loss of appetite, insomnia, dizziness or irritability. There may be other side effects of taking this medication as well, depending on the person’s reaction to Metadate CD. You and your doctor can decide together if the side effects outweigh the benefits of taking Metadate CD

Some cases of depression, as well as some cases of narcolepsy, can be treated with Metadate CD but only your doctor can decide if this medication is right for your particular set of symptoms. When used to treat ADHD in children, Metadate CD has been found quite effective, and your doctor may prescribe this medication depending on symptoms and what medications and treatment he or she feels would be best for you or your child with ADHD.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

(ADHD)

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, otherwise known as ADHD, is a disorder thought to be caused by an imbalance of chemicals in the brain which causes distractibility, impulsiveness, and hyperactivity. This disorder effects 3-5% of school aged children, and nearly 8% of adults, although the percentage for adults is mostly estimated since many adults with ADHD do not realize they have the disorder and are not treated for it.
